Where is the 600×200 format used?

This compact header sits at the top of an email under the logo row, or introduces a section further down. At 600 pixel body width it takes little vertical space and does not push the copy below the fold.

Design tips for 600×200

  • Always 600 px wide (1200 px for retina) — wider images are not scaled in Outlook.
  • Important copy belongs in the HTML text, not in the image: many clients block images at first.
  • Keep files small, ideally under 100 KB — email clients load all images at once.

Frequently asked questions

How tall can an email header be?
As a rule, short enough that the first line of copy still shows in the mobile preview pane. 600x200 clears that comfortably; from around 400 pixels of height the header pushes the content out of the first glance.
Why does my header look blurry on a phone?
Because mail clients scale the image to the screen width while modern displays pack in more pixels. Build the graphic at double resolution, 1200x400, and place it in the template at 600 pixels wide.
Which file format and file size?
myfeedr delivers 600×200 as PNG (lossless) and JPG. For trafficking, the JPG is what counts: around 50 KB is a realistic target for this size – small enough for any network without visible quality loss.
