Skyscraper is the family of tall, narrow side-of-page ads: 160×600 as the wide skyscraper, 120×600 as the narrower original.
Skyscraper is the collective name for the tall, narrow display sizes at the edge of a page, and it covers two different dimensions. The wide skyscraper measures 160×600 pixels and is the standard today; the older, narrower 120×600 skyscraper came first and has become rare. Both sit to the right or left of the content, often pinned so they travel with the reader.
Because booking systems list the two sizes separately, it pays to name them rather than to speak of the skyscraper in general. Part of the sidebar inventory has since gone to the 300×600 half page ad, which offers far more surface and has taken the wide skyscraper place in many media plans.
