GIF BANNER MAKER

GIF banner maker: animated, runs everywhere, one file per size

The animated GIF is the oldest moving ad format on the web and still the least complicated: an image file that runs in every browser, every email tool and on every website, with no ad server and no approval. myfeedr builds GIF banners from your website in every display size, with the same animation as the HTML5 ads and a file size that networks accept.

When a GIF banner is the right choice

A GIF needs nothing but an image tag. That makes it the format for newsletters where HTML5 does not run, for your own website and shop, for marketplaces, forums and partner sites that want images instead of code, and for Google Ads as an image ad when the account has no HTML5 approval yet. Affiliate networks accept GIFs as creatives too, without a placeholder in the code.

For booked display campaigns through ad servers the HTML5 ad is the better file: sharper text, smaller file, smoother motion. With myfeedr the animation is the same in both cases, so you simply export both.

The 150 KB limit and how a GIF stays under it

A GIF stores every frame separately, with at most 256 colours. A banner with six seconds of animation at twelve frames per second has 72 frames, and without optimisation that quickly ends up at half a megabyte. Google Ads accepts image ads up to 150 KB, and most networks and email tools use the same limit.

myfeedr keeps it in three ways. The repeats are not stored in the frames but in the file’s loop counter, so only one pass is saved. Every banner gets its own colour palette so logo and brand colours stay exact. And frame rate and colour depth are lowered step by step until the file is under 150 KB; the README states the value reached for each size.

  • Only one pass in the file, repeats via the GIF loop counter, then the end frame stays.
  • A dedicated palette per banner with up to 256 colours, Bayer dithering instead of noise.
  • 150 KB target per file, or best quality without a limit for websites and newsletters.
  • The same effects, speeds and loops as the HTML5 export.

Design that works as a GIF

GIF has no smooth gradients and no semi-transparent edges. Flat colours, clean edges and large text look good; fine gradients and photos with many colours turn grainy or large. That is why myfeedr places product images on calm panels in the brand colour and keeps the animation to fades and moves instead of cross-fading large areas.

The motion ends after the configured loops on the complete end frame with logo, headline, price and button. The message stays put even if someone only looks after the animation, and the file meets the network rule that a creative must not run forever.

Every display size as a GIF

The GIF set contains the display sizes of the chosen package, from the medium rectangle through leaderboard and skyscraper to the billboard and the mobile sizes. Each size has its own layout; the animation runs on the same elements everywhere.

How to make GIF banners with myfeedr

Enter your address; myfeedr reads logo, colours, fonts, copy and product images and builds the static set. In the studio you pick effect and speed, adjust copy and badge per banner and watch the animation run in every tile. The GIF export asks one thing only: network-ready under 150 KB, or best quality without a limit.

The build runs in the background and the ZIP arrives in the studio and by email: one GIF per size plus a README with size, frame rate and colours per file. Animated exports are an add-on to the static set, shown at checkout; the preview is free.

Frequently asked questions

How large can a GIF banner be?
Google Ads accepts image ads up to 150 KB, and so do most networks and email tools. myfeedr lowers frame rate and colours step by step until the file is under that, and flags sizes where that is not enough.
Does the animation loop forever?
No. The file stores one pass and repeats it as often as set in the studio, at most three times. After that the end frame stays.
GIF or HTML5, which is better?
HTML5 for booked display campaigns through ad servers: sharper, smaller, smoother. GIF for newsletters, websites, marketplaces and platforms without HTML5 support. myfeedr delivers both from the same animation.
Can I upload the GIF to Google Ads?
Yes, as an image ad in the supported sizes up to 150 KB and 30 seconds. You set the final URL in the campaign; the GIF itself contains no click code.
Why does my photo look grainy in the GIF?
GIF can hold only 256 colours per file. Photos with many shades get dithered. A cut-out product image on a panel in the brand colour looks much cleaner as a GIF than a full-frame photo.
